Human Wizard recommendations for a n00b?

Do you have a FAQ/rules quote? Because forced movement _is_ movement, so I'm wondering if the spell is just badly written.

I think you are correct. I checked Wall of Fire and it states "if a creature moves into the wall's space", similar to the language in Storm Pillar.

I keep getting "Entering into a square" and "Moving into a square" confused. I thought the former worked and latter didn't, but I guess they both work if the word "moves" is used.

Where's Hyp when we need a ruling??? :D

The real cheese with storm pillar is likely if you allow conjurations to be conjured in midair. Putting one above someone's head makes it significantly more likely to trigger, since it triggers if they move anywhere at all.

That's only true for the foe directly under it and only if he moves away (it does nothing if he stays put). The other foes 5 feet away will rarely trigger it.

I don`t feel Wizards have to be so cautious as in previous editions. With leather armor and high INT you get good AC. If anyone does hit you have the Shield Utility.

My wizard stays close... and only once got bloodied. If I get hit... that means the defenders are saving their healing surges. That doesn`t mean I`m at the frontline... just close. I wouldn`t stand 10 squares behind the group since some foes might pop up next to me...

The Wizard that this player is playing does not have Leather Armor or the Shield spell.

His tactics should change because he is not playing the same cookie cutter Leather Armor and/or Shield spell Wizard that 80% or so of people play in 4E.

Stuff that happens based on entering and movement don't care if the movement is forced or not. Forced movement precludes opportunity actions for leaving squares, of course, but it does not leave out effects from zones, conjurations, or other such effects. It is fully intended, for example, that you be able to push someone into a spike trap and have that trap work as intended on them.
