Your strategy would work. I think a wish could be used for a feat, at least theoretically.

Mind you, I would not abuse that too much. What a hero can do, so can his enemies. (Although an archmage with Great Cleave sounds pretty weird to me.

Not a problem. True Resurrection doesn't even require a body to work. It's even in the spell description of Disintegrate that True ressurection can bring back a disintegrated character. Getting hit by an asteroid can't be any worse than that.

So, there's one impediment to doing this that you don't have to worry about.

The other thing you forgot is the (un)holy or (un)neutral fire of character cleansing. I've seen it kill a few characters.

When it comes down nothing can bring you back not wish, miracle... nothing.

It's also know as DM lights zippo and torches your character sheet.

Of course, this can only works if all players, including the DM, are elves, dwarves, or gnomes *for real*. Because, by the time the third character gets his 10th bonus feat, 300 years will have passed in real time.

Unless you've got a DM that behaves like a cornucopia when it comes to XPs. Things like 5000 XP for offing a goblin who've stolen the inkeeper's son's lunch. In that case, don't bother with this meager martingale, and directly asks the DM to give feats freely. Such a monty haul DM will probably accept. "I've killed a goblin, so I should have learned Great Cleave from the experience." Try it.
