Hunter's Quarry, Oath of Enmity and Marks.

Hello people.

Last session we had some doubts about marks and powers like hunter's quarry and Avengers' oath of enmity. I know that a previous mark is superseded by a newer one, that is clear, but, does hunter's quarry, oath of enmity or Assassin's Shroud count as a mark too? Or marks are exclusive for fighters, paladins and Wardens?

No, they don't count as marks since they never say mark.

So you could have one enemy that is marked (any of the defender classes), shrouded (assassins), quarried (rangers), oathed(avengers), and cursed(warlock) all at the same time.

"Marked", if you look under conditions in the PHB, is a specific condition. Only things that say they Mark inflict that condition and have an overwrite rule. Quarry, OoE, Curse, etc., do not say they are Marks.

Quarries, Oaths, and Shrouds are all completely independent. Most warlocks can't Curse something that's already Cursed, but still get bonus damage no matter who placed the Curse on the target (though only the Curser gets the Pact Boon bonus when it drops). (There's a Feat that lets you Curse targets that are already Cursed, which gives you Combat Advantage against them.)

And this is almost certain to happen to any solo monster who tries to take on a party comprising any defender, an assassin, a ranger, an avenger and a warlock by itself.

Just remember that solo monsters are called such because they are suppose to be the equivalent of 5 monsters not because they are suppose to be in the encounter by themselves.

Right! That sure fixes de “yawn factor” of some of the first encounters I made with only one solo monster.
