Hurricane Isabel and ENWorlders

Been a while since we've had a hurricane come right up the Chesapeake Bay so it wouldn't surprise me to see this one do so. Of course that would be a bit of an inconvenience so I hope it dies off instead.

I guess I'll let Eris handle it. FNORD!

As would I.

Be not afraid of ze little storm! What can a little wind do!? *watches "Wrath of God" on History Channel* Quite a lot, apparently!

Hurricane Hugo was a monster that I keenly remember. Many people have their "storm stories" - mine was watching a 50-year-old maple tree with shallow roots being ripped from the ground, and watching a friend clean out a Swimming Pool that was filled with his neighbor's storage shed. :)

Although my favorite was a picture from the time of (Hurricane Hazel, I believe?) of a 2 x 4 shoved like a spear COMPLETELY through a 1-foot diameter palmetto tree.

I visited a friend of mine in Charleston after hugo. One thing that stands out in my memory was the fact that of all the buildings that got flattened, it seemed like one restaraunt chain seemed to have no buildings that weathered the storm: Taco Bell.

Looking at those projection maps again, not only is my vacation spot going to get hit, but Charlottesville, VA is right in the path as well. Damed if I go, damned if I stay...

Being in britain I do no think it will effect me. ;) Never had a real hurricane over here, had some false ones back in 1987(8?), that was before I was born though

This would be me, though I have friends on the coast.

one of the nice things about living in chicago, is that we don't get the east coast's hurricanes, or the west coast's earthquakes. :D

seriously though, good luck to all for avoiding this storm...
