I’m not dead yet…..sticking with 3.5

Don't tell me to stick with 3.5 and then try and push me towards Conan or True 20. That's bait and switch.

If they had titled it, "OGL; the legacy of gaming from 3.5 to now" then I could see it.

And the WFRP is pure hyperbole but at the same time, not that much. I've seen a lot of OGL books. Some of them would be harder to translete over than Warhammer FRPG.

Uhm...ok, so you ignored the possibile answer I gave you and instead decided to rant... are you really looking for how this might be an honest attempt at supporting 3.5 or have you already pre-judged and just want to hate on it?

I posted a possible answer which addresses everything you seem to have a problem with... by them publishing full 3.5 stats in their products, is this wrong simply because it's a Conan or True20 book...especially if they do the mechanical conversions for you? How is this any different from using an eberron sourcebook or adventure in Forgotten Realms...if the mechanics are done for you it becomes a simple flavor issue.

I mean didn't people buy the Freeport systemless book to use with 3.5... and then GR published a separate book with the rules for different systems...including 3.5? Also didn't the Blue Rose game come with conversion notes for 3.5 as well? And if I want a sword & sorcery adventure... as long as it has 3.5 stats and a page of conversion notes, how is the fact that it's in a Conan book make it an act of not promoting 3.5 or baiting and switching?

I honestly think you're talking with nothing to back it up, I mean do you have any details to support that they are not and will not provide 3.5 support and are instead only mentioning it to draw people in to their individual game systems... because if they do provide support it isn't a bait and switch.

It's been a while so I could be off here but Green Ronin's adventure line, Bleeding Adventurers, was supposed to boost numberous downloads. Not really there. Ditto for the Cults of Freeport and Bucaneeres of Freeport. There was a lot of talk of downloads for game stats ince the statless books were specific and wouldn't support full fledged support books.

And dual statted books tend to die. Didn't work for Fading Suns, didn't work for Tribe 8 and I don't suspect it'd work for Conan or other companies material so I honestly don't believe in any way shape or form that it's about dual statting the books.

So...my answer is no, all you have is a title and conjecture, but no real information at all... Uhm, ok, so were just discussing... what exactly?

EDIT: I'll hold off declaring them liars and snake oil salesmen until details are forthcoming... but that's just me.

One of the things I noticed is this one.

Okay... I haven't seen the final of Pathfinder but True20, Conan, and many other OGL variants are not really 3.5. Seems like bait and switch.

"The Warhammer Fantasy system is awesome to recrate the feel of your 3.5 game!"

Opinions?

While I see your point, the only effective way to "stick with 3.5" IS to look at OGL games. Especially now that, I don't know, all of the 3.5 PDFs have been pulled...

While all of those OGL games may not be "true" 3.5, all of your 3.5 stuff is compatible with little or no modification. Your collection isn't invalid. That's how I would interpret the "sticking with 3.5" comment.

I thought we were discussing the wording and that it's not really 3.5 if they're telling you to go down another path.

Could they be doing what you're saying? Sure.

If you want to make a bet with me that is what they're doing, I'll take your money. I am willing to bet that you won't see 3.5 stats WITH Pathfinder stats say in a Pathfinder book. That you will not see 3.5 stats WITH Mutants * Masterminds (an OGL book.)

I can use pathfinder stuff with 3.X without problems - of course, I use 3.0 and 3.5 material in the same campaign without problems either, so I am used to "not sweating the details".

Are we talking the 3.5 Pathfinder stuff or the beta? The final edition isn't out yet no?

I liked some of the beta and if I was still doing 3.5 would definately be cribbing from it.

You're a devious mind that Mark.

His opinion is perfectly fine.

I just don't see it happening based on previous sales of dual statted material or the fact that it would be odd to see Pathfinder dual statted with 3.5.

And hey, I'm already posting naked. Isn't that the standard?

Pathfinder is pretty much 3.5. That, or 3.6, 3.75, whatever. Very much a modifier 3.5 ruleset, because that's what they were aiming for, because that's what people were asking for.

But True20, and possibly whatever else might have been mentioned along with? Er, it seems a little daft or at least odd to go calling them '3.5' when. . . well, they're not.
