Cityscape (WotC) has a number, probably similar style to DMG2 (though I don't have DMG2).

The DMG2 ones is a full chapter on the city. The Cityscape stuff is just maps with some basic info on them and then lots of rules about cities (which is useful but not what i am looking for).

Good posts all! Keep'm coming!

Do people not want to buy books like Seven Cities? I guess I find those type of products really usfull in keeping my prep time down.

How was Shelzar: City of Sins?

I've got:

Seven Cities, Ptolus, Burok Torn, Hollowfaust, Waterdeep 1e, Calimport, The Last Free City, City of Greyhawk Boxed Set, Lankhmar 1e and 2e, Temple Quarter, and Thieve's Quarter and things like CityWorks from FFG.

I used Seven Cities' battle one in fleshing out my version of the planescape gate city of Rigus where my high level party is currently.

I really wish The Game Mechanics would finish the "Quarter" series. Those books are great and Chris West is my favorite cartographer, although I heard he's not doing Arcane Quarter. :(

AQ is listed to be out this summer.

Yeah, I was going to mention City State of Tyr for Dark Sun as well. That's pretty good and is easily ported into a non-DS setting.

For the same setting:

The Ivory Triangle is a 2e boxed set that details the cities of Gulg and Nibenay (the former is a forest-city ruled by an allegedly benevolent despotic forest goddess and the other is a decadent city with powerful nobles, merchant houses and an enigmatic sorcerer-king often rumoured to be dead).

City State of Draj is a free download (http://www.athas.org/releases/csod/CSoD.pdf) covering a meso-American inspired city-state strong on militaristic life.

City by the Silt Sea does indeed cover a ruined city, which might not be of much use to you, but it also features a couple of really unusual subterranean cities beneath the ruins that make for great "realms below".

The 2e Greyhawk product Fate of Istus gives brief details on a whole bunch of Greyhawk cities, tied to adventures. The city details are kinda sketchy, but there are maps.

In a similar vein, the 2e hardback Forgotten Realms Adventures covers lots of cities of the Realms in double-page spreads with maps, NPCs, locations, hooks etc. Easily divorced from the Realms, these writeups are jam packed with details and worth a look. I've lifted several of these for homebrews over the years.

Some of my favorites...

City State of the Invincible Overlord, by Necromancer Games

Bard's Gate, by Necromancer Games

Ptolus, by Malhavoc Press

Gary Gygax's Castle Zagyg: Yggsburgh, by Troll Lord Games
Product Page: http://www.trolllord.com/newsite/zagyg/8050.html

For towns/villages you have fewer choices, really, save for those included in adventures, as mentioned prior. IMNSHO, the best ones are in the older product.

Hommlet is in T1: Village of Hommlet.

You can get Modron, a town in the Wilderlands, here: http://enworld.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=8812&

And if you have a local store participating in Free RPG Day (check at www.freerpgday.com), you should be able to pick up my 16-page town booklet, Imperial Town of Tell Qa: Northern Bastion of the Falling Empire. It's designed for use with Castles & Crusades, but it is readily adaptable to Dungeons & Dragons. You can find samples on my game blog, listed below.

Obviously there is no shortage of cities described in various supplements although I don't know of any supplement with collections of cities other than Seven Cities. I do own Seven Civilizations and I like it a lot but it's not what you are looking for.

I second the recommendation for Privateer Press' Five Fingers: Port of Deceit.

Dungeon Magazine has a surprising number of cities described in it's pages although not in every single issue. The first one that comes to mind is Diamond Lake described in Dungeon issue # 124. It also blends well with the very first part of the Age of Worms campaign. I think it comes with a nice map as well although I might be confusing it with another issue.

Dungeon issue #139 does the same thing for Sasserine. It is also the first part of the current adventure path Savage Tides.

Dungeon issue #117 has Istivin: City of Shadows. I really loved that issue and the city is very well described. Of course the issue also includes the first of a three part adventure set in the city. Although playable on it's own you could buy issues 118 & 119 and have a nice big adventure set in Istivin.

ack...interesting gem of a city....the website is interesting too...

$8.78 for hardback copy of the book that you can't get because it is out of stock

or

$10.98 for a watermarked pdf from drivethrurpg.

I'm liking what I am reading so far...sounds like a nice attempt to bring some of WoD into d20 fantasy gaming.

If you liked the short format, then Dragon magazine's occasional series covering real world city histories will probably be of interest. Take the details. Change the name. Sketch out a loose map, or recycle a city map from any product where you find one - Dungeon, WoTC books, probably wizards.com in their map section will have some, old 2nd edition PDFs. etc
