I appologize . . .

"Actually, he's gotten lots of advice - I should know, as I've said my fair share on the matter. However, don't try and play a "he's the victim here, why isn't anyone trying to help him?" card. "

The gentleman who wrote and published the document in question has also been offered help with the release prior to the release of the product, but turned it down with a plethora of restrictions that I won't go into, suffice it to say that it would have been impossible to actually help with the product unless you were part of the original design team of one.

Sometimes the Internet is too fast. You see something wrong, you send off an email and now you want to know why nothing is being done. You have to remember that you email has to arrive, the intended reader has to be online, has to read the email, has to react to it, and then does something. James seems to have gotten a lot of heat because he didn't react faster than an hour. I'd say an hour is pretty fast.

In past threads, James has made it clear that they remove "problem products" that receive 1 start reviews. This is how the last problem product (what was it, a bunch of feats, I think?) got taken down real fast. And Phil's 1 star comment may be what informed James that there might be something up with this product. It certainly makes more sense to make comments at RPGNow than here if there's a problem.

An hour? an HOUR? The cad! how dare he not check his e-mail every five minutes like the rest of us! :)

Seriously, I have to comment that I don't see the ground to stand on wherein the publisher is held responsible. As was stated, the license is specifically between the licensee and the licensor; the vendor who has NO input into the creation process does not have responsiblity.

I must shop differently from the rest of the world; the only time I ever hold a retailer responsible for bad product is if they sell me a physical property that is defective; licensed items, and electronic items you simply MUST take your chances with. I can't even RETURN a computer game at an electronics store anymore, because the threat of piracy is so great; but I accept that as part of the risk, and read up thoroughly on the product and its reviews before I purchase it.

1 star comment? Where was that? There are more threads to find?

BTW I just visited RPGNow for the first time (I had no idea you could get If Thoughts Could Kill from there, too) but I can't find a review section.

Each product lists it's reviews at the bottom of the description. But on the left side of the page there is a "MORE COMMENTS..." link:

To set the record straight. I did NOT recieve ANY mail about this problem. I ONLY found out about it as I was reading some threads here at this site. That's my point- how am I supposed to act on something if the only reporting of a problem is on someone else's website?

Err... yeah. We know. I don't see anyone complaining that you didn't respond in time. In fact, I see the opposite. Forget about it.
