D&D 5E I bought a wide format printer!

I crit!
Saw one of these show up on craigslist for sub $200. Just in time for my Wednesday night players to go into Strahd's castle.

Note that the print in the photo was printed without a working cyan cartridge.

And I love the Parnast map from AL. I just wish the original artist would make one without the cloud castle in it.

Nice! How wide is it?

I wanted to get one of these but they were all like $1000. It turns out that this is mostly because they are only available as professional quality printers, and those start at around $1000.

Looking around these older ones keep poping up. At 600dpi they are no longer good enough for many professionals, but just perfect for my needs. This was a first generation plotter that is really a glorified injet printer. It's built like a tank and this one was taken well care of.

Looks like I can get color cartridges for about $11 and black for $9. A set of refillable ink is about $30, lots of ink. Rolls of paper 155 feet long go for $20-30. Poster like paper goes for more. But I can print on my easel one inch grid paper as well and I have a ton of that. Also a friend of mine who's dad is a retired architect may have quite a bit of ink.

My brother has or had 60" wide printers professional ink jet - and before the .com bubble bursting He had a thriving business in wide format printing.

He still has the wide format business, but he had to merge with another hard hit printing business.

How long does an ink cartridge last when printing images of that size?

And -- wow! I'm very jealous! Sadly, I wouldn't have space for such a thing, but I would love one!

Oh, the game day maps that can be mad on one of those! . . . . . . . . it boggles the mind . . . . .
