I bow to the master

Wow! Thanks for the kind words, everyone! <wipes tear from eye>

The "Not For the Living" article idea came to me while I was working on Dungeon Master's Guide II and writing up the haunting trap for it. I kept having to tone back the trap cause it was running way over in length, and eventually that seed bounced off the guards and wards spell (which is itself a sort of structure template) and the idea turned into the haunting templates. There's still a fair amount of other types of ghost hauntings I'd like to do, and the concept works well for other things too, I think.

And if you liked the article, you should really check out the movies and books mentioned in the article. All of them are great resources for ideas on how to scare your players and haunt your dungeons.

Cmon everybody,

Stop being so nice to James, I have to work next to him every day and he is unbearable as it is...

So YOUR hat of James know no limit...

Kudos to to both of you. I recently resubsribed to Dragon after many years of not getting it and this is the second issue I've gotten so far. I'm not a big FR's player so the extensive write-up on Waterdeep in my first issue turned me off a bit. Thanks to the both of you, I am now hooked all over again. The best thing I can say, is the fluff of these articles really inspired me, and both will be intergrated into my current campain very soon. :]

Thanks for the great read

Griff

This was a particularly stellar issue. Kudo's to everyone involved.

I've gotta throw props to the artists, too. The entity image is quite spooky..it reminds me of the critter on the cover of Tome & Blood. Regdar's tombstone was a nice touch, too.

BTW, Mouseferatu...you did the pole arm article a few issues back, right? That was fantastic. Any chance we'll see one on other overlooked weapon groups. ;)

I inflicted great pain on my party with an advanced malebranche with a bardiche and a few of those feats. :]

Well, a chunk of it, anyway. I proposed it and wrote... Uh, I'd guess maybe what amounted to 2/3 of the final material. (Could be off a bit, but somewhere in that neighborhood.)

I have a few vaguely similar ideas floating around, but I haven't even proposed them, let alone written them yet, so the answer to your question would have to be "Maybe, but it'll be a while."

The one I really liked was the eidolon picture, since it was a "D&D-ism" of Samara/Sadako from "The Ring." Very awesome.
