I can't get into Chat...somebody save me!

First Post
When I click on "chat room" from the main page, it takes me to a drop down menu that says select channel, and when I select one, nothing happens.

When I select "chat room" on my computer at work I just get taken straight into the chat room. When MojoGM tries it on his computer he just goes directly to the chat room.

:( The chat room hates me, doesn't it?

If you can help me, my puppy will lick your face and wag his tail and I will be very , very happy.

Thanks
Sheri

What version of Windows are you using? If its Windows XP I believe you have to download the Java Runtime Environment to get it to work because XP didn't originally come with a Java Environment installed. A Java Run Time Environment is available from www.sun.com.

Or you could try Mirc from www.mirc.com. Use the Psionics Net server to join and then use /join #dnd3e.

Grr if My University didn't block IRC connections I could be of more use.

Really? My XP worked fine right out of the "box"...

Much, much better than the chat applet in my opinion.

Yeah it was only the earlier releases that were missing the Java Runtime environment. I think it was added in around the time of the first service pack.

intresting I had to install that later on but have no issue with jave before that...

Thanks all. MojoGM & I spent teh rest of the night downloading the Java thing it said I needed, but for some reason, it won't run on my computer. I have Windows 2000. After an hour or so of trying, we gave up. I'll try these suggestions when I get home tonight.

Thank you all so much.

I would encourage you to just download MIRC or any other IRC client. Then you will be ready to join in on IRC fun anytime you would like. :)

yes.
use a 'proper' IRC client, and it'll pay off for you in the long run.
Many times I use the webpage-access chat, but only because it's convenient.
If it's not convenient (i.e. it doesn't work for you), just simply DL the mIRC client and use that.

Many people on here could help with that Windows program (mIRC) if you ask.
