I can't go to GenCon. Should I run a PbP?

Originally I was happy I wasn't going to Gen Con, because I had plans to go to Brazil and visit my girlfriend (whom I actually met at Gen Con 2 years ago). But then I injured my knee so now the reason I'm not going to Gen Con (or Brazil) is that I have to pay for the knee surgery. This is quite an unhappy situation.

Now I'm going to miss out on seeing all my friends, and on playing the whacky fun games folks there run. I at least want part of the experience, so I'm wondering if I should run a play-by-post, and if I could wrangle some of my Gen Con peeps to play in it.

If I were going to Gen Con I would want to run a War of the Burning Sky adventure, probably the 1st one (though with the party being higher than 1st level, so we can play faster with fewer breaks). But if I run a PbP I'd have more time, and my try the 4th adventure -- The Mad King's Banquet -- which just came out and is sort of a microcosm of the entire series: looming war, mystery, intrigue, monsters, and mass combat. Good times.

Am I a fool? Would any of my friends who I see at Gen Con be interested in trying this out, so I am not completely despondent to the point of trying to slit my wrists with d4s?

Aw man, I was looking forward to you running into the ENnies after party this year and saying, "The hotel is sinking!" again. :)

Sorry you won't be there and unfortunately, I don't connect on the road, otherwise I would be there for ya.

Im sorry to hear about your bad wheel. Im more sorry to hear that you cant go to South America (my favorite continent thus far). PbP games are fun though...and I happen to know for a fact that Living Eberron could use an adventure. Okay, that was a bit selfish...I suppose Im getting angsty. Good luck with your decision.

Move to Canada - get surgery for free - go to Gencon?

I wish you well - but I don't t think the PbP is going to work at a time when everyone is focused on the con.

Sorry.

Acually, I know the exact place you can find some PCs that are already designed and ready to continue on in their PBP War of the Burning Sky game. Feel like picking one up where it was left off? :D

I can't speak for your friends, but they may be up for giving PBP a try. You should ping them and find out.
