• I stopped using hosting services for VTT and paying extra for no good reason and switched to self hosting. Just took some research.

As someone who works in IT, I usually hate doing anything IT related by the time my workday is done but I finally got around to looking into self-hosting my Foundry instance and it wasn't hard at all. I bought a Raspberry Pi 5 with 8 GB of RAM on a holiday sale and about 4 hours of research later, I have my existing PF2e campaign migrated to self-hosted and I can stop paying $9 a month for something I could do myself. Appreciate the motivation to finally getting this done!

As a player, we're a few games past our 52nd session of 5e2024 on Mondays. (I made most but not all of them since it started a bit over a year ago). The party is up to 10th level and has been tracking down the gods being reborn into the world.

As a DM, the Tuesday sessions with my son and his friends has about reached the five year mark. The first batch of characters are on semi-retirement, the second batch finished some custom things, GG's Borderlands, Castle Amber, and is now almost at the entrance to the ship in GG's Barrier Peaks. After that, it looks like they are on course to have a grand finale tying both sets of characters together and hopefully saving the world. When they're finished I hope at least one of them picks up and DMs for the rest.

Out of curiosity, was the Raspberry Pi necessary for some reason? I'm curious in case I ever decide to leave Maptool, Foundry would probably be my drop-back choice, but a dedicated piece of hardware isn't too appealing.
