I complain about the current MSRP of RPGs all the time...

... but I think the new WotC Dungeon Tiles have an excellent price point and give a good amount of bang for the buck.

I also think that the subscription price for Dungeon magazine is fair, especially considering there are about 3 adventures in each issue.

Let's talk about RPG products that live up to or exceed their Value to MSRP ratio!

Are we talking about actual games, suppliments, or accessories? Dungeon Tiles I see as an accessory and I'd say Tactiles trump them since we use those every week which is way more then we can those Dungeon Tiles. Dungeon is a great price, but only if one is actively using the adventures.

I've got to go with World's Largest Dungeon. Sure, it was not a cheap product but it provided entertainment for thousands of gaming hours,

Dungeon Magazine, by a mile.

But otherwise the list is too long given the insane deals I've been getting in my city the last little while.

I mean honestly, Lords of Madness for 8 bucks?

That's, like, pretty good value.

8 bucks is a good price, but that's hardly MSRP!

I'd say Player's Handbook II is up there - $35 for 221 pages of pretty high quality isn't to be sneezed at.

I used to grumble to myself about the price of RPG books -- back in the early days of 3rd Edition when I tended to buy everything that came out; I'm more selective these days since I have tons of books on my shelf I will never use -- but considering that 20 years ago I bought all my 1st Edition books new for $20, and now the WotC releases are generally $30-$40 bucks, I don't think prices have gotten too far out of hand.

Consider mass market paperbacks for comparison: 20 years ago I could buy them for $3-$5 on average, now they're upwards of $7 and $8. I have a mass market copy of The Dark Tower VII (came out this year) that's got a cover price of $9.99. I also have a copy of The Stand (Complete and Uncut, printed in 1990) that's got a similar page count and a cover price of $6.99. Publishing, just like everything else, has gotten more expensive.

Right now I'd say that I'm happiest about my purchase of Fantasy Flight Games' Grimm d20 mini-game. I got it for $15 new, and I'm getting ready to run my second big game for a large gathering of friends, so I'm definitely getting my money's worth.

For my regular D&D game, though, I get the biggest bang for my buck from my Dungeon subscription and several Dungeon Crawl Classics modules.

I used to complain about the price of games, books and supplies. However, since I now work in business and have learned the finances behind keeping a company going.

I'm just fine with the prices.

Also, I think back on the companies that have gone under...and I'd have gladly paid double what I did for some of their products for them to still be in business today putting out great stuff.

I would like to see more publishers offer PDF downloads for a heavily discounted price (I know several already do). After all, distribution costs are very inexpensive for such products.
