name for me a cooler PrC than the Master Chef!

Ok, I recently picked up Mongoose's: The Quintessential Halfling. This is instantly the best book published. Period.

"What makes it so great?", you ask.

Well, pipe down, junior, I'll tell you. It's the Master Chef PrC! It's easily the coolest prestige class ever! The "get out of the kitchen" ability is the funniest/coolest ability yet.

Anybody else have any thoughts about this book?

***Note, I'm not really asking for people to tell me "cooler" PrC's than the Master Chef. I'm more just shooting for what other people think of the book/class. Thanks!

Humourous, but not entirely a joke. As he gains levels, he can cook special meals, mimicking stuff like heroes' feast. It's not really intended as a PC class for most campaigns.

TracerBullet - glad you like the book. It's my first solo project, and I've been crawling both the walls and the net all week, waiting to see what people thought of it...

(Edit 'cos I mispelled heroes. Er. It was deliberate, 'cos it's a mongoose thread or something. Yeah.)

I haven't picked up the halfling book yet, but I seem to recall a similar class in the gnome book. I think a class that could, say, create meals that act like potions could be interesting. Not necessarily something I'd want to play, but it has its niche.

Is it basicly a joke class?

What can a halfling master chef do that an expert or even a commoner cannot?
GASP!!!

Well, I don't have the book here in front of me, but I can sum up what a master chef, or Wilimac (as I like to call him), can do...

I believe at first level he gains the ability to make improved attacks with common kitchen utensils and also to make a healing meal, which doubles healing rates during rest. At later levels he gains a +2d6 sneak attack with kitchen cutlery, along with more magical meal abilities, including one that allows the chef to cook potions into food, allowing half the normal benefit to all who eat the meal. There's also a distracting meal ability, forcing a Will check to not head straight for the food...lots of good stuff.

But the sweetest ability, get out of the kitchen, allows a master chef to threaten every inch of his kitchen. He knows what to bump to make a pot fall, or a cabinet swing open...it is HIS place...

I know I'm not doing it justice in my little write up. Perhaps if I have time later, I can provide a better summation.

Regardless, I find the class to be very entertaining, and actually rather useful. And I only need to gain 4 more levels before I qualify for it with my halfling...

Good times...

Besides...everybody loves the cook, right?

You wrote it? Very well done! Keep up the good work!
