I got my copy of EN World Player's Journal!!

MY IDEAS ABOUT THE JOURNAL

The upcoming Adventurer's Guide includes some great illustrations by Danilo Moretti again. The article is a two-parter: social situations, and essential equipment.

I'm really pleased to see Danilo working more and more with US publishers. If only some of the bigger (or medium size ones, apart Mongoose) gave him a chance...

This apart, I have just received a copy of the first issue so I'd like to offer my opinions. I liked graphics and artwork overall, albeit some artists I liked more and some others I liked less. About the texts, I'm not really interested in the 'hardware' (anything falling in the 'new rules for something' category) preferring by far the 'software' (articles about anything else). I'm not an active gamer for D&D III, so I suppose this 'bias' is understandable. I'd like to see more software articles such as reviews, comments, interviews, opinions and so on. Am I the only one to prefer a more 'balanced' content between hardware and software?

Another thing I'd like to have a quicker answer time for my proposals 8-) I sent an article to Morrus weeks ago - after receiving a green light for the proposal, mind you - and I haven't heard a word from him. It would be nice knowing something... if only to send the article to some other publication if he doesn't consider it of good enough quality...

Well actually, I don't think we count as US, although the printer (Goodman Games) is in the US, E.N.Publishing is split between Morrus in the UK, and the head office is here in beautiful Vankleek Hill, Ontario, Canada.

Glad to receive them- please keep 'em coming! Issue #2 will be my first issue as art director, so I look forward to comments. I think people will be impressed with the overall quality of the art. We've got Marcio Fiorito, Danilo Moretti, Benjamin Richards, Jim Zubkavich... (I love my job, reading through the articles and trying to describe what pieces need illustration, and how)

This issue will include our first in a series of Con reports and will list gaming conventions from around the world. It'll also include Sean K. Reynold's Con Tips.

Am I the only one to prefer a more 'balanced' content between hardware and software?

I look forward to hearing more feedback on the issue!

As for the reply issue, what with the creation of E.N.Publishing, things have been somewhat hectic. I believe that Ryan Nock is now submissions editor, btw. I'll be sure to give the boys a little nudge for ya.

Canada? Oh, yes, the civilized version of the United States

Jokes aside, considering the fact that, by far, most publishers are in the US, it would be very interesting for Danilo Moretti receiving more offers from there. I hope the cover on the Journal will give him much deserved exposure.

What? No, I'm not Danilo's agent... I'm his Demonic Caretaker eheheh

About the reply to my submission, thank you - I hope to receive some news soon. I fully understand that the Journal's staff is quite busy, not big, part time and most surely the Editor will have to confront a stack of proposals: simply a line such as "Artiucle received and read, we will let you know" would be far nicer than silence.

See? I just had another idea!

Finally found this at my OFLGS (not my regular one) and I am very impressed. William Simioni's Freeport adventure was the main pull for me (I wonder why?) but the rest of the articles were excellent as well - I especially liked the Adventurer's Guide. Useful stuff.

Can I suggest as an adjunct to aerial combat (#17), 'combat while falling' (or, 'how to fight after you screw up').

I mean, c'mon, you can't cast feather fall until you're pretty darn close to hitting or it'll end before you're on the ground (and even if you don't have feather fall you can survive that 20d6 from hitting the ground), so you might as well make sure that the other guy doesn't survive...

Oh, wait, that's #54. And #53 is Flying. I think you need to weed out the list a bit, there's some duplicates in there.

Er, OK, well, under 'Fighting Huge Monsters', be sure to include climbing up them!
