I got Reader's Guide to Drizzt

This just came in today. I was really mad this wasn't available at Gencon because I wanted Salvatore to sign it for me. I haven't given it a thorough read yet, but I have to say at this point I'm pretty disappointed.

I'm not sure who the art director was, but this book is a prime example of art direction gone bad. A lot of the artist's styles severely clash with one another and a lot of the art is subpar at best.

It would be unfair to expect a huge book of all new Lockwood art, but a lot of the styles in here just don't work. If I put this together, I would have probably cut the book in half and focused more on the characters.

I may warm up to this after a thorough read, but right now its not looking good. I'll update after I've spent some more time with it.

It does have that one picture of him and Cattie Brie where he looks old, but none of the old Easley paintings where he looks like an old man thankfully. I did like the original cover to Sojourn by Easley I thought that one was awesome, but I didn't see it there. I'll have to look again, but I didn't see Elmore's painting from Crystal Shard which was one of my favorites.

I wonder why they called it The Legend of Drizzt when it's not about Drizzt.

Because all the books in the series feature Drizzt as the main character, except for The Spine of the World.
