I hate this! "Information Phantoms"

devilish

I just invented this term for something that bugs the !@$ out of me.

I've spent the last couple of days tracking down "WildFire" by Michael Martin Murphy
because I thought I read here on ENWorld someone's comment like "....what
a cool song...about a dead girl on a horse coming to collect the soul of the
narrator/singer....neat plot..."

Well, I got the song and came back here and can't find the post --- I thought it was in
"Songs that define 70s/80s" or "d500 Plot Threads" or "Monday - just add
heroes and stir" or "Friday 13th - superstitions in your world" or something.
But it's nowhere on this site. Like it never existed..... maybe
it was a one-liner in the Stephen King novel I'm listening to
on tape, maybe on the news, maybe on some dumb G4 show, or some other
messageboard somewhere.

The frustration is with the Information Overload we get these days being so pervasive
that we lose track of the pointers (sorry, old programming term) that got us
to hunt down information in the first place. So now I have this orphan of data
with nothing to relate it back to. Argh!!!

Anyone else or am I just getting old and can't keep track of the little
pharmacist drawers in the desk of my mind?
