I have Buffy so why buy Angel?

I like Buffy (the show) more than Angel (the show). If my group played, they'd probably play more like Angel (the show), though -- grown-ups who are living in a city other than Sunnydale.

Are the books equivalent for my (potential) needs?

PS: Pix of SMG are preferable to pix of Charisma, though both are most excellent.

I'd say Angel is better for your needs. If you also pick up the Magic Box book (for all the rules you'll need for spells, etc.), you'll be good to go.

On the subject of "good to go", will the Angel book feature cute blond one (Buffy), or just the cute snarky one (Cordelia), or lots of the brooding man-cheesecake (Angel)?

Art is important, as is tone. :)

I've been intending to pick up Angel, but haven't gotten around to it yet because we've only played Buffy twice since we bought it and all the supplements.

But they are a mighty fine read, as far as RPG books go the Buffy Angel ones rank high in the easy and fun to read department.
