I... have returned. Um, for 45 days or so anyway, till this AOL thing runs out. I know, I know. AOL. Don't look at me, it's too sad.

Yeah, I have to use it too. I hate iot, especially since it doesn't allow POP3/SMTP email access. I have to disconnect, dial up to a pay-per-minute service, send the email I just wrote, disconnect again and then reconnect to AOL. Most inconvenient.

If anyone knows a way around that AOL outgoing mail block, please let me know, because it drives me nuts!

Hotmail or Yahoo Mail?

AOL shouldn't put any block on you sending POP3/SMTP email. However the email server you are trying to send email to (e.g. Freeserve perhaps) might only allow you to send email through it if you are logged on from one of their ip addresses (i.e. connected using Freeserve).

Does this just apply to sending emails or reading them as well? If its just sending I'm sure there is something we could do to help our dear esteemed leader!

ALternatively you could always use web interface that I know freeserve has.

Nah, I can send and receive just fine using any connection other than AOL. Using AOL I can receive but not send.

I thought about web interfaces, but they're just too slow and impractical with the amount of email I get. I need to be able to skim through them at supersonic speeds!
