I saw it tonight at my FLGS. Nice figure, and they're selling it for $29 CAD, which is much better than the $40 I was expecting. I ended up not getting it because I doubt I will ever play in a game where a CR 20+ monster will appear.

You should buy it strictly so that you could have an illusionist make the image. :)

The price is good and the figure looks good in terms of detail but man does it look stupid.

WoTC shot themselves in the foot when they defined their sizes and then went to make miniatures out of 'em. The red dragon has the same problem in that it's like a dog standing up for a treat and looks way too human but if it were to be on all fours, it would be much much larger than it's official size.

The concept art on the card had the dragon in a leaping into flight pose. It would have worked well, but instead we got this pose because wotc can't figure out how to use a tail by itself for a base anchor :p .

Actually wotc caused the problem when all creatures got a square /round base requirement in 3.5. in 3.0 a colossal dragon has an 8"x16" combat facing; in 3.5, it is a 6x6 square. I have a dragon model kit that fits that 3.0 scale, but they are rare. .

I think a well thought out figure can still salvage the situation. I would have loved a dive bombing pose where the colossal dragon is coming down at a 45 or steeper degree angle, biting in front of it, wings outstretched and using the two front legs as anchor points to the base.
