D&D 5E I have something... THE TARRASQUE!

Yeah, totally right, missed that. So you could command 100 attack rolls at once, though only one of them could do damage to the tarrasque thanks to Magic Weapon's concentration (and there's nothing in the RAW prohibiting you from finding 100 magic bows that we've seen yet, but I don't think that's...realistic...given 5e's assumptions).

Cheaper, now. 100 3rd-level spellcasters + 1 20th - level necromancer to do 100 magic weapon attacks/round, but still seems kind of like army territory.

Here's the thing, if you have a god-like 20th level necromancer commanding a small army of 100 3rd level spellcasters...if you can coordinate that kind of assault i guess the Tarrasque should be given a run for its money, and possibly forced back into "coma state". Regardless, that kind of assault is unlikely, and it's going to kill a lot of mages really, really quick. I love the visualization though...

You're focused on the example.

Imagine the tarrasque didn't have the nonmagical weapon immunity. Or that it's a different monster - say, the adult blue dragon from the pdf.

There's not many class features - or classes - that are near 3,000 hit points of skeletons or a hundred extra attacks. And anything without this blanket immunity is shredded.

Ah, so it seems the issue is specifically "animate dead is broken" yeah?

Which has doodly-squat to do with the Terrasque, since it's not a good example of when that might be true.

But whip up a thread on it! If it's a viable tactic, I know a D&D Adventurer's League that will soon be host to my skeleton armada. ;)

I have a hard time imagining 500 or whatever amount of skeletons can take down something that massive. It just seems silly that the Tarrasque is ONLY hitting ONE NPC at a time with its HUGE tail/claws/mouth, if your DM is allowing that then I guess you deserve to kill it with that silliness. I understand the rules vs the Players since it would/should be an epic fight for THEM but if your adding in an army of skeletons or whatnot they should be easily pushed/scattered aside by something that is a world shaking force,I can only imagine this fight playing out with the players + armies/cities being leveled in the process.

Ah, beat me to it. I'll probably house rule his attacks to be various area effects (a cone for his tail for example). I just can't see a creature like the Tarrasque carefully and meticulously attacking a single enemy at a time. And before anyone asks, yeah I'll probably be doing the same thing with other similarly sized creatures

Agreed, where is trample, where is the area effect for stampede? This thing is supposed to threaten the planet, not one creature at a time.

Is the automatic hit at 20 still in the game? If yes then killing or at least driving off the Tarrasque gets easy when you start houseruling "because it makes sense".

Required:
- Magic Carpet or other forms of flying which allows you to carry lots of stuff
- A magical container filled with lots and lots of acid flasks.

Fly above the 120ft fear radius to not get disadvantage and then throw a flask at the Tarrasque every turn. Technically it is out of range of the flask, but it just makes sense that the flask falls downward and has a chance to hit it even when out of range, right? Or you could just fly lower and wait 1 minute for the fear to wear off before attacking.

So that are 2d6 acid damage every 20 turns on average with no chance of retaliation.

See previous several notes - unless you can move faster than the Tarrasque, you ain't gonna kill it. You can annoy it until it decides to leave - and go munch on the other side of town, or something.

And if "because it makes sense" is our phrase of the day, an improvised weapon thrown with a Strength of 30 sounds like "because it makes sense" as a retaliation. The thing has a lift capacity in the range of *tons*, so something larger than a d4 is probably winging it's way to your carpet...

And yet, without regeneration you will eventually whittle it down.
On the picture it also does not have an opposable thumb, nor does it look like it can lift its arms very high.
