I just got Dungeon #105...

Thumbs way up from me! I agree with previous posts: the Warduke and "The Stink" were both fantastic. I enjoyed Reboot as well. While I liked the rotation of Dungeon and Polyhedron before, I think that Erik Mona and pals are on the right track with Dungeon!

Just went through the issue, and it's definitely one of the best... The cover is freakin' awesome! I actually had his toy... The only D&D figure I had as a kid, too... Now let's see more critical threats like this... I want official 3.5 stats of VENGER, doctored up like Warduke here. Oh man, that would scare the pants off of my players... :D

IS DOWNER BACK?! I love that comic...

Aaron.
An AWESOME issue. Quite simply, it's superb. Hats off to Mr. Mona, really.

"Racing the Snake" is one of the best adventure premises I've seen in some time. It's got variety, interesting twists, and is set in honest-to-goodness Greyhawk, starting the town of Polvar in Ket, and taking you to Highfolk. It features some of best artwork in Dungeon in some time, including a few nice NPC portraits. I WILL use this module, sooner or later.

"The Stink" is another good one, also featuring lush illustrations. Introducing 6 new diseases and taking the players to some unpleasant places, it's good, straightforward fun with lots of tricks to it.

Warduke. Warduke ROXX0RZ! :) Presented as a nasty challenge for any party, the redoubtable fighter has been beefed-up, buffed-out and dropped smack dab into Greyhawk continuity (and I couldn't be happier). His writeup has several great plothooks right in it, and he's just one mean mutha. WAR's illustration is appreciated, too.

I still need to give Deathnet a read through, though. The 'art' was very distracting for me, and not in a good way...but that's a taste issue, and not really reflective of the really interesting game that lays beneath.

And yes, Downer is back, and as good as ever.

i've said the same thing about previous ones, but i think Deathnet is one of the best Poly minigames to date. it's inventive and looks very fun. :)

Quick question about Warduke:

Does he basically have a flametongue sword, or is it more like the cartoon version, which (IIRC) trapped people in crystal?

I do hope that other characters pop up in the future. Hopefully, all of the toy ones will, but maybe at least the toys that actually showed up in the cartoon.

(If it's more of the latter, I wonder how Strongheart will be statted out--as the sword-wielding paladin per the toy, or the golden hammer-wielding paladin in the cartoon.)

Definitely need to pick up this Dungeon issue. I think I found my new BBEG! :D

Warduke's sword is +3bane vs. humans, anarchic, flaming burst bastard sword

Flaming? That's disappointing. I always thought his sword was a frostbrand, or something similar.

Or was that just a creation of the cartoon, since they couldn't well show him setting Dungeon Master on fire?

Lastly, "Deathnet" in the Polyhedron section, is quite possibly the best way to get me to buy Eberron, since the same guy made them. While some may call this entire premise a rip-off of The Matrix, or something like that, the fact is this game just looks damn good. This d20 Modern game is very reminiscent of Reboot. Characters have "models" that their character is based on, such as Avatar, Brute, etc. and four classes that build off having strong, fast, interpersonal, or hacking characters.

Likewise, the setting itself is tons of fun. Imagine being surrounded by a horde of little cubes with arms and legs, all chanting that you can "Look up anyone, anywhere, anytime!" or that you can order "Free herbal viagra!". That's right, spam. Now imagine mowing them down with your submachine gun. It's that kind of fun. There are viruses, MOBs, programs, and other people using image-avatars of themselves and more. Just watch out for the Blue Screen of Death.

In short, though I explained it rather badly, this issue of Dungeon is exemplary in the content it offers. Keep up the wonderful work Paizo!

You had to mention ReBoot didn't you? The show I have always suggested would make a great RPG... I have SERIOUSLY cut down on my rpg purchases... but... hard... to... resist... Re... Boot....
