I just have a few Q's...

Thanks everyone! And now for the results: All answers are correct! So for the game I was awarded a grand total of 24,000 exp! (The last question that I posted was worth 10,000 because it was e-mailed on the day before game) I gained a lvl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again. I will post again when the new questions are sent to me. (Of course I will research them myself before I post them. I'm only posting them to double check my answers and to get answers for the ones that I'm not finding anything for.)

Yay!

(1)How high will a cockatrice fly normally and what must occur to get it to fly higher?

(2)What occurs to an undead when turned successfully by an evil cleric when the required roll is beneath a "T"?

(3)What is the recovery time for moderate intoxication?

(4)In the dwarfish Craig the party came across a mural of His Lordship King Iron Hammer. In the scenery behind him was an inscription. What did it read?

(A) "Beware all trespassers for if you disturb these chambers a horrible death will befall you."
(B) "Welcome non-believers to the inner sanctum of the One and True God of Enlightenment."
(C) "At the base of the iron giant will be hidden the key to Shardenmar."
(D) "Kilroy was here."
(E) "Dwarves Rule!"
(F) "Be wary of the lava-spitting iron giant."
(G) "Comrades in arms. Your friend Hallmarker of the Warrior Caste."

(All I could find for the first one was discriptions for a cockatrice. I think #2 is rebuke but Im not sure what "T" is. And the third one... Well lets just say that I found some interesting stuff but not what I need. Lol. For that last one I think I left the room for a moment so I didn't hear what was said.... HELP!)

What edition are you playing? It may matter for the answers to some of these questions.

1) This is probably from "ecology of the cockatrice", usually in dragon articles.

2) "T" means "Turned", "D" means destroyed.

3) I dunno...again, edition would help.

4) Do you know any more about King Iron Hammer? First name? Name of adventure you were on? There is a King Jalis Iron Hammer in Guild Wars.

Thats the hard part... When I asked my DM which edition he said: "Mostly 1st with some 2nd, 3rd, 3.5 and 4th for some interesting effects." So yeah... It could be from any one of those... I'm so doomed. Lol.

Well, in the original game, anti-clerics get no roll at all on the turning table.

In 1st ed. Advanced D&D, the table is like this sample column:
Skeleton ... D
Zombie ..... D
Ghoul ....... T
Shadow .... T
Wight ....... 4
Ghast ....... 7
Wraith ...... 13

The "D" and "T" entries indicate that a cleric of this level automatically achieves certain effects, which vary by alignment (with good or evil).

The numbers literally "beneath a T" indicate the minimum on a 20-sided dice needed to attain the same result as for a T. Thus, this cleric needs 4+ (85%) to affect wights.

It makes no difference whether the number has a T above it or not. What occurs is that the creatures "take neutral or friendly attitude according to a reaction dice score."

Second Ed. AD&D uses the same table (or nearly so), but makes a point of distinguishing terminology. Literally, evil priests (of which evil clerics would be a subclass) "have no ability to turn undead. However, they can attempt to command these beings." What occurs to the undead is that they obey the evil priest.

(It seems to me more likely that 1st Ed. was intended.)

I will stick with 1st Ed. AD&D, as that is most familiar to me.

(1) "The cockatrice is not a strong, steady flyer, and will not go above 300' unless provoked into one of its screaming fits of rage." (DMG, p. 51)

(3) The "recovery time" from moderate intoxication is 2-4 hours. Certain stimulants will shorten this. A mild stimulant reduces that to 80%, a strong stimulant to 55%. Note that "recovery" is only up a level to slight intoxication. (DMG, p. 83)

I have no clue as to (4), I am afraid.

So for those last few questions I got 7,500 exp! The answer to the 4th question was (C) and was worth 5,000 exp. The reason why that question was asked was that nobody bothered to examine the room to even know that there was an inscription... oops.

I'm also going to be writing a character background for more exp. But as I'm new to this world I don't know much about it. Should I start a new thread to ask about specific questions concerning the landscape, creature locations and habitats , other planes of existence, etc. Or just ask them in this thread?

Example: What creatures/monsters live around the city Hardby?

Thanks again for everyone's help!
