I know this has been asked a million times before but...Good Starter RPG

What is a good starter RPG for someone who has never done it before and that can be ordered off of Amazon? I know this has probably been asked a lot here, but I do not have the Search function. I am asking for someone else online, I do not know his/her price range yet.

Any RPG that has good DM advice. That's the hardest part of the game to get right.

THere is no one, so I would choose a genre that you think that person would like and also it would depend on their age and gender.

The reason I ask about age and gender is there is fantastic game called Faerie's Tale Deluxe. It is designed for kids and the material is a bit more girl oriented. Green Ronin publisdhes and Robin Laws designed it.

THe other kids oriented game that I absolute love but has gone out of print is called Meddling Kids. It is basically Scooby Doo. Both those games I've had a lot of luck running with kids. I think this game though would be a lot harder to fine a copy of.

This is the guy from the other forum, and I just want to say that I've been thinking about ordering the Serenity RPG, I've heard good things about it, including it's accessibility... my family are firefly fans, so I figured it would be easier for them to get into.

Serenity RPG is a fun game and on the simplier side. Since your family knows the show and are fans that will help. The game allows you to play the main cast and has them all with full character sheets so that could make the first few sessions run easier since you don't have to worry about character generation.

I like the game, but as an experienced gamer it does have some issues. But in all honesty I'm not sure as novice gamers they would be noticed so I see no real reason to bring them up. There are times in gaming if you don't know something is a problem then it won't be a problem for you. Good gaming!

Serenity is alot of fun. This site has some good downloads for it, including pre-written adventures that can get you started.

It can be deadly, so I would suggest being extremely generous with plot points as you're all learning the ropes. Give 'em out like candy. Even better, use candy to keep track of them.
