I messed up with this guy

First Post
Gee, I helped a player create a were bear character / forsaker and I messed up when I was dissecting the monster and class and giving it an ecl of +5 after everything I done, but I realized I missed all the brown bear stuff, and after looking on the WOTC and seeing them publish a werebear class (where was this 2 months ago???) I think he might be unbalanced. Also I let a character play a gold dragon (he is only 1 year old or something and that guy is very balanced.)

Issue now if the gold dragon guy wants a better character because the bear is too powerful, and I admitted there might have been a design flaw on my part but I will look into it. the other chracter a 8th level sorcerer well he don't care he's lovin it and I am looking into Monte's stuff for any thing to add to my soon to be hybred game. Anyways, any advice for the werebear/ forsaker? I think I will rebuild him, and present the balanced version to the play and see what he thinks, I think I can present him with the idea and allow him to see (read as convince) that this new build is more accurate, and will add to the enjoyment of everyone. 2 more things my groups been playing for about 15 years on and off, and the werebear player is a RIFTS mnchkin but things don't get out of hand usually.

Any advice, would be wonderful. For all those travelling in snow this weekend, please becareful.

Umm, start off by being honest about the mistake. The current situation creates a problem where you have to throw tougher monsters at the party so it isn't a cakewalk for the werebear. But, this puts the other characters at more risk. There is also the possibility of overshadowing the other two characters. If the situation were different, would he like being the second string guy in the group?

Then, take the templates on the WotC site, apply 2 levels of Lycanthrope -Werebear and 3 levels of Animal - Bear. This will bring it in line with the ECL of +5 without having to drop any Forsaker levels. Hrmm, actually, I bet he would no longer qualify for Forsaker at that rate. Anyway, adjust things until you get the character as close as possible to what he currently has.

If that is "unacceptable", then inform him that his character will continue receiving experience, but will not be able to take another level until he has acquired enough experience to level up to where his true ECL would take him.

Most reasonable players will accept the mistake and work with you. But, the first step is honest communication.

Heehee...have a GHOSTLY encounter that AGES the Gold Dragon up a notch or two...
LOL , Yeah I will work out the numbers, and present them. As for the dragon, he will be just fine at 2 years old,
