My first is in a delta,
My middle's a crowd's applause,
My last's away,
And you will too if you fear his wrath.

D - ra(h) - gon(e)

I am greed, never hungry
I grow great, never dwindle
I am flames, ever burning
Never born, but become in flesh,
Came forth from a guarded chest
A treasure from treasure come
I am the wind, the waters,
the earth, and the flickering fire
King of sky and land below
A rare friend, a foe dire

What am I?

7X6. Oh no wait, that's for a different answer

Wrong question if you are referring to 42, the answer to life, the universe and everything. The question that goes along with THAT answer is, "What is six times nine?"

Yes, I know it doesn't come out to 42, that's why it was funny.

The river brings rain
But the crops are scorched
The sky brings light
But the sun is darkened
The air sleeps in winter's night
But my wrath brings a hurricane
There is nothing that is my peer
The cave is dark
But I am what is darker
The gold is bright
But I am what is brighter
Of time nor nothing have I fear

If I may be so bold as to revise...

The clouds bring rain,
But the crops are scorched
The sun brings light,
But the skies are darkened
The air sleeps on winter's night,
But my wrath brings a storm
The mountain is great,
But nothing is my peer
The cave is dark,
But I am darker
The gold is bright,
But I am brighter
Neither time nor battle do I fear
