Vowels.

Nice. I want to stay away from anything that hinges on the English language, though. For some reason, that's always been a "suspension of disbelief" breaker for me. Now, something like the "friend" riddle at Moria is fine -- the riddle was in figuring out which language, not in the actual spelling/grammar.
