I need a riddle...

Summer-Knight925

First Post
my PCs are about to go fight this dragon, it's not meant to be an actual hard combat fight (they're all 13th and 14th level, teh dragon is a cr 16) but I want to give them some brain teasers in the forms of riddles and add an aspect of horror...
i.e. using knowledge

both sides (PCs and Dragon) are expecting the others, the pcs will gear up for a fight, the dragon (being a template dragon) will burrow throughout his cavern and use riddles to draw the PCs into his trap (dropping rocks onto them)

it doesn't sound like much, but for a hack-and-slash party, facing an enemy they can't fight will be a challenge.

So I need riddles AND answers for them, the harder the better. but not complex, no math, just word play, please? and thanks.

Would be happy to help, I'm a riddle rockstar :cool:, but it's not clear what you want.

How will these riddles draw the PCs into his traps? I think some more detail from you is in order.

Riddles of time (or setting) approrpriate words.

And for everyone else, the riddle is the bait that leads them in, they get out of the portal and are in a narrow hall, so the riddle is to draw them out into the main chamber and surprise them with rocks falling from the ceiling.

if the PCs touch the giant treasure hoard in the middle of the room, the dragon attacks from the caverns (breath weapon out of cracks and rocks) and if they try to leave through the portal he lands on the first group, starting melee (that is of course if they enter the main chamber and then leave)

What do you mean the riddle is the bait? Is there this disembodied dragon voice saying the riddle? And the answer to it is something in the area? Or you expect the PCs to simply move in the direction of the voice? Why? What's the relevance of the riddle then (besides being a *haha screwed you!*). Why don't the players go 'so what? why do we care? it's probably a trick anyhow'?

Maybe there's something that's obvious to you cause you've been thinking about it, bur you haven't yet expressed that to us (the ENWorld riddle factory brain trust).

And just to throw some riddles out there...

1. I'm deaf, dumb and blind but always tell the truth.
[sblock=Answer]Mirror or Justice[/sblock]

2. At day we come without being fetched and at night we are lost without being stolen.
[sblock=Answer]Shadows[/sblock]

3. Tis not, tis is, tis day, tis night, tis back, tis front, tis left, tis right.
[sblock=Answer]Paradox, e.g. the entrance is the exit.[/sblock]

I have a player who loves to solve riddles, and is good at them, so it is to make them feel safe, and go for the treasure, the dragon want's a free surprise round out of the deal, that's why he sets bait, and with 2 heads, breah weapon surprise, then another the next round...or so the old rules say

he almost killed the wizard, brought him to zero, the riddle worked (used the "I have no legs to dance upon and yet I dance, I have no lungs and yet I breathe and no life or death and yet I live, what am I? fire) to bring them in, it worked, and they barely made it out alive..
