I need a small port city.

I am starting a new campaign soon, and I want to focus on the adventures during my somehwat limited prep time. The campaign takes place on a "New World" style continent, centered around the first real "port city" to develope there in the decade since the discovery of this place.

Can anyone suggest a product, pdf or print, that details a small, bustling, interesting port city that would fit? I am looking for something that has decent maps and lots of cool NPCs. Adventure hooks and in-city dungeons are less important to me.

Thanks.

I think Saltmarsh from the DMG 2 might work for you with a little tweaking. Population is listed at 3,850 making it a large town by DMG standards, but it seems small enough to me.

The city in Dungeon # ... uh.... that vile issue? That one would be pretty cool. It'll set the tone as pretty dark, wild and lawless, though, which may not be what you're looking for.

On the off chance that you're interested in "realism" you'll want to increase the amount of time between the discovery of a "new world" and the establishment of a town of 4,000 people.

In a world with instantaneous communication and fast, sometimes instantaneous travel, I'm not sure why 4,000 colonists setting up shop quickly is implausible.
