Piratecat, this really does help. Only need to make a few specific changes and it should work. I think. Though I do like the idea of using monks andpaions as the basis for this.

I see the heralds as part of a temple heirarchy. Something aimilar to paladins at low levels lay on hands, detect evil, grace of the phoenix, health of the phoenix and the such. Mainly protecters and healers of the masses. As they gain in levels they get more firebased and martial powers, fire shield, flameblade, fireball, free weapon focus and things like that. At the top of their power they would be more phoenix like with aspect of the diety(phoenix), fly, mass heal, ressurection and flame strike.

Would it work better as a template or prestige class? I still have yet to figure that out. Now that am thinking, should the Phoenix Ascendant be a template? I am thinking a combination of 1/2 celestial and 1/2 fire elemental, could that work?l

Any suggestions for a favored weapon?
