I need more worlds to explore

I love DMing in the Forgotten Realms but my campaigns, independent of game system are usually based on an idea, a theme from elsewhere. Either another system or another game world or something else. This something needs to be 'deep' enough for me to plunder it for ideas for month, otherwise I get bored of my own campaign.

Recently I got the feeling of been there, done that. I stoped DMing for now, out of that reason. I would prefere to DM though, as I like it and my group likes my style of DMing most of the time, too. :)

So, I hope you can give me some more ideas to plunder for a good campaign.

Some examples of what I allready did:
A campaign influenced by ...

... the Tales of the Brothers Grim and the Ravenloft Setting set near Waterdeep.
... a campaign influenced by Conan, Sword&Sorcery and arabic tales set at the Lake of Steam.
... Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil supercharged with FR god details set in the Dales.
... a Against the Giants campaign, with heavy influence of northern myth set in Cormyr.
... a campaign based on the 4e Core Setting, especially Feywild/Shadowfell (I loved the World preview) and Necromancers Tomb of Abysthor set in the Dale Lands.
... a Chaos Scar Campaign that had me basically robbing the Warhammer Fantasy Setting for ideas set in the Bloodstone Lands.

as a DM I'm at my best when doing exploration of locales and myth. My campaigns are very sandboxy. I love to show my players the world, its creatures and the myth. I like big dungeons as locations, but I tend to have them sparringly inhabited. I like getting the idea of a dungeon across, but I use them more like very exotic places tto show the players.

To fuel my own imagination, I need a solid base to work from. And with WotCs 4e I do not feel like I get a lot of that. So I need to look elsewhere.

What I am itching to do for years is a Pirate Campaign. I have all Savage Tide Dungeon Mags and Savage Worlds 50 Fathoms. I am not sure, though, if there is enough in that kind of campaign to last and if 4e can handle it well.

Damn! Why didn't I think of Freeport? And I like the Cthullu Mythos a lot, too. It should be easy to place the city in the southern parts of Fearun. :)

What about:

- Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil in Akanul? (I would also throw in the Shackled City adventure path in Airspur.)

- Ravenloft plus Robin Hood with smatterings of King Arthur on the isle of Snowdown in the Moonshae Isles?
