I need story ideas from those familiar with the death gate series

I already have arianus planned out in my head, however, I could use some advice on book 2. I thought that book was pretty uneventful and was wondering if I could add anything to it to make it interesting. I was thinking about a war, and perhaps a competition to see who could kill the most critters in a set amount of time, hunting down creatures in a big city (ala FF 9). I could use some help or story ideas for the next 2 books aswell. Thanks in advance :D .

Arianus has the most going on. I agree that you should base things out of here.
Pyran is exciting and boring. Exciting in that the Tytans can kill you at any second. Boring because they womped everything else.
Abarrach is pretty freaking deadly. Mensch won't survive here very long without aid. Not to mention all the undead.
Chelestra is the exact opposite, very friendly but also very dull.
... and everything else is closed off to the mensch.


What to do? Make stuff up.

A mensch based game could focus on trying to re-build trade between the four worlds (as was originally intended) without the use of the Death Gate being fully open (as was NOT originally intended).

The first step might be a exploration into the other worlds. An attempt to go to Abarrach might have been done before the party is hired so Arianus knows that world is deadly. Chelestra, of course, will accidently destroy any magic that holds mensch ships together. So start out with an expidition to Pyran. Put lots of made up monsters in there. The Tytans don't have to be the only guardians, they may have been the only ones that were indestructable.

But once the party discovers the indestructable Tytans ... toss in a coupld of weapons that can kill Tytans that Alfred and Haplo simply never found ... BUT they are on Abarrach! Now the party has a reason to go there, but how to survive? The secret could be in the waters of Chelestra.

How's that for a start?
 

lol, that wasn't what I had intended, and my players like combat, so setting up trade might be in their things to do list.

Story line:
They are from faerun, and an evil wizard that has befriended them is going to use an epic gate spell, without truly knowing what it could do. The pc's are hired to protect the wizard against any unwanted entities until he can banish it (or so the wizard says). So, the wizard uses the old indiana jones trick (replacing the treasure with the stone), and they get dropped into arianus. They eventually will meet Haplo, and will be convinced that he is the only one that can get them back home. So, they will attempt to chase him down in hopes that he could help them. I have arianus planned out, (well, everything except for the great magi's castle). They will eventually be tossed into the labrynth (I might skip the hand of chaos, but you never know). By then, they should be up and coming to epic. After they get out, they will find that the wizards spell let loose the labrynth entity into faerun, and then they have to save the world.:D
