I guess I'm the only person who like Anakin as he becomes Darth Vader.

Does that mean I'm ... EVIL? :D

That I guess I'm evil too. I did like Anakin in AOTC. But I never liked Vader. I thought he was a great villian. He was compelling and fun to watch, but I always had that distance of "wow, he's a nasty, vile creature." So I never considered him "cool." Yoda was VERY cool. Han Solo was also cool. I even thought Luke was pretty cool. His whining didn't really put me off that much as a kid.

I guess the crux of my issue here is that I don't know why arrogant, petulant, unpleasant adults in the Star Wars movies are ALWAYS considered cool, but arrogant, petulant, unpleasant teenagers are a source of complaints.

For the record Solo was also cool in my book.

And why are badies always cool you ask..... they can accessorize their stuff looks cooler.

And Solo is quite morally ambivalent, at least in the first movie. While he's not a bad guy, exactly, he is a criminal and quite mercenary. He has no compunctions about killing, takes advantage of people in dire need and is willing to leave people out to dry unless there's something in it for him.

There's good hidden deep inside of him, but it's that's really deep.

I liked Anakin in AotC too. He had a good heart and wanted to make things better for people. He was a know-it-all, but so was I at that age. Yeah, he was a whiny teenager, but that's typical. Anakin fell more because he wanted to get the right results the wrong way. The Jedi talked Anakin up as the Chosen One and piled on the expectations, but didn't give him any freedom to learn his limits.

The Jedi Order did as much to create Vader as Palpatine ever did.
