I offer my voice as your DMing prop!

Craer

First Post
Just can't seem to get that accent right? Is your sore throat preventing you from getting that Lich's rasp juuuuust perfect?

I may be able to help. Just because it seems like fun, I'll take requests from any DMs (or players!) that would like me to record speech, or even song for them. Monsters, NPCs, I'll attempt just about anything. I'm male, so keep that in mind if you want a female voice done. I'll do my best, but I can't promise anything.

So, any takers?

Digitally. I'll record it and send it to you through your choice of online format. Then, with your permission (after I find some steady hosting) I'll post it in this thread or otherwise link to the sound file for all to enjoy.

I can't think of anything specific that I need at this moment, but you've piqued my interest at a time when I am hunting down all the free sound effects and fantasy music I can right now. I purchased a neat little program called RPG SoundMixer, and even though it's by a German company (they've done a lot to translate the site into English), it works great. The program allows you to create "sound-events" that provide you with background music and then via hotkeys allows you to access sound effects. I've always been a big fan of using sound effects during games that I DM (started with my Halloween one-shots in Ravenloft during high school years, using a tape deck and pre-recorded sound effects of wolf howls, creaky doors and rattling chains, etc.)

So, in short, I don't have a request, but would love to listen to a sample of your work.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but The Soundmixer intrigues me: Is it possible to add effects to a voice? The applications that come with my soundcard allow such a thing (make it sound like the chipmunks, make the voice higher or lower, and such a thing), but I'm still looking for a way to add a sort of "mad deity" effect to your voice. If you have played BG2:Throne of Bhaal, I mean the way Cyric speaks: Several (supposed to be thousands) of voices speaking for him, slightly set apart. Can the Soundmixer do such a thing, maybe even in real time? If not, does anyone know how to do it, or what program it could do it?

I'm not sure how long the link will hold up, since it is geocities, but here's an example. It's a scene from PirateCat's story hour from a while back (I believe in Akin's Throat). I loved the NPC so much, I saved that portion of the post and have been dying to recreate him for my game.

Here's Mirjik, of Mirjik's Eccentricities.

I'm not sure if Soundmixer can do this or not. Feel free to look around their website for an answer, or send them an email. As I mentioned, I just purchased it over the weekend and haven't had that much time to play with it. The instructions are pretty vague, and so I spent most of my time figuring out all of the controls and operations on my own.

Good luck!
