I really don't like the Compendium links in articles.

I like it. I don't read the power in the article anyway, I read them on the Character Builder.

As far as I'm concerned, if it stops folks from pirating D&DI material, I'm 100% in favour of it.

Let me add my voice to the chorus. I HATE reading on screen. I want my PDFs to be complete because I frequently print them out.

Did you get that WotC??????

NO MORE HYPERLINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad::mad::mad:

I see Psion should have been released in Compendium and CB only. People grubled so they had to make the PDF ASAP. I guess it's the reason of the links. Well, I hope the next time it will be with complete texts without the links.

Well, I really love the coments! To look inside design and developement is cool. Anyway, I made my off-line HTML as I described before and then I made my PDF from the HTML. It all took a few minutes only.

I HATE reading on screen.

Did you print out this entire thread and then read it? Just wondering.

I was slightly irrated when I first saw it because OMGWTFBBQ CHANGE IS BAD! Then I just clicked the links of powers and hit the back button and read on. It looks out pretty well. I'm using firefox, does IE handle this differently?

I'm not a big fan of the WALL OF TEXT! power listing anyways. When I look over a new class in a book, I kinda zone out around level 3 or so. To really get a feel for the class, I really have to make a character. Building a psion in the CB was much better for me than just reading the wall of text.

Also, this isn't a Dragon or Dungeon article. It is preview content for DDI subscribes, it is NOT the magazine. They get to put up all the content, without having to worry about type setting and all that nonsense. They can just leverage the existing technology and data. Who would imagine that an online article allows them to leverage online material! Shocking.

I'm all for the change!

Your milage may vary.

The hyperlinks have made the article near unusable for me at the moment :(

Instead of downloading the whole article, I just viewed it in the browser PDF-viewer (Firefox). Of course, when I clicked on a hyperlink, it opened the new info in the same browser tab. I click back and, while at first it brought me right back where it was... after a few back-and-forths, it made me download the whole PDF again. After another incident, now I can't download it again... it just times out :(

So now, I can't even see the article. I'm fully aware, that this is likely a browser issue and it will probably clear up after a bit (or clear cache, etc), but it's a big PAIN IN THE REAR.

I think attaching links to dynamically built content (Compendium) on a static document (PDF) is just asking for connection, cache, firewall issues.

I don't think very many people at all would get huffy about a new previewed class in place of a typical Dragon article, for instance. They're already releasing new crunch there, for subscribers only.

;)

Are you kidding?

There are multiple complaint threads on WOTC's forums with people arguing that quite rightly, they're not getting their DRAGON worth of content since instead of unique subscriber only content, they're just getting stuff they already paid for (via the character builder).

Is everyone who is upset with these changes emailing the DnDi feedback email, and letting them know, in a nice manner, of the errors and problems with the changes?

I wouldn't be too thrilled with it. My intent is that I'm paying for additional content, not for content that will be released later. Even the playtest stuff I'm not overly thrilled with. It's interesting to see these things ahead of time, but they shouldn't be at the expense of original content. This is especially true with regards to new (not Playtest/Preview) player-oriented content, of which Dragon is already lacking.
