An easy task has a DC10, a moderate task has a DC13. This is working out awesomely.

Skills are also pretty good.

You roll an ability check and add +3 if the skill is related to what you're trying to do. As you level-up, periodically you can add +1 to a skill to a maximum of +3+7.

I love this. How can we use this system in other parts of the game like combat?

The first thing that comes to my mind is using acrobatics or tumble to pass through enemy ranks without provoking opportunity attacks. Just roll d20 + Dex mod + applicable skill against their Dex score. Simple as that.

In general a good rule of thumb might be 'spend an action to gain an advantage'. Use any appropriate skill against the enemy's appropriate ability score.
