There is no target for that spell. It's an area spell (cone).

From the SRD:

Target or Targets: Some spellshave a target or targets. The character casts these spells directly on creatures or objects, as defined by the spell itself.

Area: Some spells affect an area. The character selects where the spell starts, but otherwise the character doesn't control which creatures or objects the spell affects.

So see invisibility reveals that cone area to the max range so that EVERYONE can see the invisible?

If that is right than, HOLY Beergut Batman

no, it only affects the creature that the spell was cast on to see invis and ethereal creatures out to the full range of the spell, normal seeing conditions apply of course.

Damn good question. It does say "YOU see..." in the spell description.

But you're right. In spells like Find Traps, it says the target is you, this one does not.

Hmmm.

I'd check the errata on this one.

The spell description starts with: 'You see...' and never mentions other people. You probably means the caster (and only the caster) in this case.

Well it was darn confusing while we were trying to figure it out. If it just had said Target: Personal, that would have clarified a few things. I agree that with the power of the spell it should be limited to personal use.

It does not because a spell has either a area or a target, not both.
