Here is the basics of a bard. It is already a great at social interaction, can attempt to use ANY skill with around a +10 modifier, decent at spell casting (vs. living foes) and fighting.
From this framework it could be taken in many directions; elf archer (by choosing archery feats), Spellcaster (stongest option is likely spell focus and greater spell focus illusion and picking the shadow conjuration/evocation spells), melee combatant (I find that inspire courage works well with two-weapon fighting and if you pick up the armored caster feat you can use mithral full plates, combined with protective spells and physical stat enchancers you can be deadly) and so on.
