...Tokien really needs to work on his DM-ing. I mean, a hobbit with no combat experience in the same party as a high-level wizard, facing Cave Trolls, Demons, and the like? And let's not go into the fudging of the dice...

Any time you give a 1st level halfling commoner a major artifact, you take a big risk.

Plus, his first "campaign" and already he's blowing up the world. Start small and local, I say. No need for a "save the world" scenario to start with.

My beef is with the elves - they're BROKEN!! They're faster, lighter, more agile, hear better, see better, live longer, use magic, have better aim, etc. They're about as game-breaking as it gets.

They're still pansys.

Given the obvious advantage of elves, I think its strange only one person chose to play one. Must be all about roleplaying at that table.

Where's the cleric? If you're going to mix levels you'd better encourage someone to play a cleric, or at least stock up on CLW potions in town.

And about that little ring... if that's the best magic item in the campaign, loot time must be pretty boring. I mean, it's just a Ring of Invisibility - the DMG lists requisite caster level as 3! Sure, it's cursed, but, get this, it's only gold... if it's all that important shouldn't it be platinum or adamantite or something?

I dunno... did Tolkein even allow his PCs to level-up over the entire course of the story? Or was it all one adventure, thus forcing them to save XP until the very end? I can't tell.

Hack.

Well we definitely got to see Gandalf level up (or we will, when TTT comes out). I think he might be an NPC though -- and if so it's a blatant example of the DM favoring his own NPCs over the PCs. I never really did catch what Gandalf's spell list is; it kind of felt like the DM was just making up his spells as the adventure went along. Lame!
