She arrived at an outcropping of rock that in the shadows seemed at first to be a natural protrusion. Then, a gaping maw opened up and sharp teeth pierced her flesh.With Cordit's shaggy ape-form out of the way, Eoghan and Quinn moved into the tunnel. It was difficult going as rocky root-like tentacles shifted underfoot, leaving debris and grooves in the tunnel floor that were easy to trip over. To make matters worse, the whole tunnel seemed to be alive with writhing tentacles that tried to grab at them. Jack fired his crossbow, but the quarrel just broke over the creature's stony exterior. Eoghan's deep voice rumbled out a poem mixed with ancient magic, but the creature didn't seem to hear. Finally, Quinn threw a small ball of flame over Valda's shoulder. The flames scorched the thing's mouth, but still it continued to chew.[ooc]Sorry about the long wait! Roper bit Valda for 26 damage, but 4 tentacles all failed to wrap anyone else. Quinn did 8 fire. Bible's attacks cut Cordit free, but didn't damage the roper.
