To Valda's surprise, the old bear was stubborn enough to force its will over the power of her stone rune. It chomped down on her leg and tried to drag her from her feet. She stood, hoping on one leg while trying to pull herself free from the bear's jaws, and slashing at the the hill giant servant while he pummelled her with his club. Jack saw that she needed help and he shot the bear in the head with his crossbow. It released Valda and staggered sideways, but it refused to die and reared to its hind feet, standing tall, but confused with a quarrel sticking out of the side of its head. It may have been comical, if it were not very dangerous, and somewhat sad. The young hill giant cried out and picked a hot rock out of the firepit. He hurled it at Jack, who stepped sideways and let the rock roll off his body, but it left a burn mark that stung. Cordit and the Stone Giant began to wrestle, but the giant got her by both ape arms and pulled, and the ape form tore apart, leaving a tiny halfling sailor as the magic faded away. Cordit yelped and dashed as fast as she could to get cover behind Bible as two other giants threw stones that Bible took with her body to protect her small, outmatched, dear friend. [ooc]I rolled really well for the bear. I also remembered to have Jack take half damage from one attack. For someone who plays rogues, I tend to forget it when I DM. Cordit had to disengage on her turn and run! I lost track of the damage rolls to post here, but I'm sure I have them right in my notes. I'll keep trying to be better with posting quickly - I've just been swamped.[/ooc]
