D&D 5E (2014) [IC] Creamsteak's Storm King's Thunder: Waterdeep

Casting a curious eye at the animated armor, Gul let the others go past him before he realised the need to address the social niceties outweighed his professional interests.

Stepping into the room behind Davaros, he spoke up, "regarding giant activity across the region, both hill giant and cloud giant but especially fire giant. If you are interested in keeping the roads safe then hopefully you have some way of contacting the Lords Alliance, but before that, we should thank you for your hospitality and ask who you are, and how you fare?"

OOC:
Gul will wait to get a better idea of who he is addressing before revealing any details.

"I am Harthos Zymorven, and I've had more than my fair share of encounters with giants in my past. My family has kept this keep, and for generations my family has served through a number of adventures. For myself, I am still quite fine."

An invisibility spell drops from the lord, who is a fairly strong man, though he has quite a bit of weight around his stomach it seems.

"I can send a message to Silverymoon, surely enough. I'd like to know of these giants."

Bellalalalalalinda says, "Nice ta meetcha!" and shakes Zymorven's hand. She looks to the others to see if it's okay to speak and (assuming no one shakes her off) she says, "We saw two fire giants with trolls as slaves right after we defeated the sky-puppets (do you know about the sky puppets?) and we followed one of them to a city and snuck in and saw a deal being made with the Zentarim who were on horses with a bunch of hobgoblins. We can tell you more about any of that, or what we did before, like when we found the tortured kobold or defeated the Sauhaugen grave robbers. But we don't know what you don't know."

She takes a breath.

"So that's why we're here. We're trying to stop them. Ain't that right, Whist?"

The lord is caught off guard in more ways that one and seems almost stunned as Bell rattles off her list of feats. "So are you following the fire giants? What are sky puppets? Are they Zhentarim? Sahaugin grave robbers torturing kobolds?"

The explanation the small gnome gives about the "sky-puppets" as she calls them shows that she has been thinking about it. She describes cloud giants as puppeteers, operating the warriors on really long strings. It's not clear how probable this all is, but it's consistent. "At the time, I ran to the roof -- that was a mistake. The trick to stopping sky-puppets is to go indoors," she says with a knowing nod. "That way they can only get you by coming down the chimney."

"Oh, and it wasn't the grave robbers torturing kobolds. It was that creepy bard. Don't trust him."

"We also witnessed some sort of deal between the giants and the Zhentarim," Willow adds as she sits on a couch near the hearth. "The giants want something in Gauntlgrym, and the Zhents have sent them to meet with drow to take it quietly. I wish we knew what they wanted, but if you can get word to Gauntlgrym, hopefully they can be better prepared nonetheless."

The old fighter considers and replies, "I can send message to a friend in Gauntylgrm, but that will prevent me from sending a message today to Silverymoon. I don't know the Black Network's interests, but I presume they serve their own ends."

OOC: What message did we indicate we want sent to Silverymoon? I thought we just needed to get word to Gauntlgrym?

Regardless, we're headed to Silverymoon and could pass on whatever it is ourselves, yes?
