(IC) Dog Days of Doom!

Stratus thanked Stronmous for his timely intervention. Feeling that his God was close, and taking an active part in their success, when faced with a number of choices in amulets and pendants, Stratus prayed for guidance. He was not there to make himself coin, but to do the most he could to end this threat to life.

He asked, "Now that I already have your holy symbol, what do I take that will most help me to accomplish the task of relighting the beacon? It need not be for myself, but maybe for one of my allies?"

OOC: If it will help, I will spend inspiration.

While Deirdre was unfamiliar with the religion that might be at play here, her sharp eleven senses picked up something abnormal. She fell back into her arcane training to puzzle out what it was.

OOC: You could hang from the balcony and let yourself down easy enough. Make a dc 10 athletics or acrobatic to lower yourself down.

After a gentle touch infused with magic from Max, Benny tries to lower himself from the balcony onto one of the tables. He must have been nervous about the fog because his attention wasn’t where it needed to be and he slips…

OOC: Max casts guidance acrobatics
Benny acrobatics 9 fail! Note I made a mistake in the code, it’s should have been +5 not +20. The real total is 9… shoot!

Cures and Curiosities

As Benny scrambles over the iron railing he climbs down to dangle a couple feet off the table. Maybe a human could have even touched the table with their toes but the young, impulsive, child is just too short.

Max whispers out loud,

"Benny, are you sure this is a good idea? I'm pretty sure I saw that mist moving around. What makes you think it won't just move?"

Deidre looks worried as well, knowing that the mist definitely isn't caused by any of the spilled potions, it's hard to determine what it might be.

Benny, in all his young life, hadn't ever seen or heard of such a strange mist but, as he was hanging there, it occurred to him that the Radiant Servant, Levenshire had turned into a mist just before he'd escaped. He wondered to himself, at that moment, whether the mist could be some kind of undead.

All these things crossed people's thoughts as Benny let go of the wrought iron and accidently slipped down, landing on the table hard and falling on his back. Potions scattered across the table and tipped over, some spilling and some falling to the floor and breaking.

Benny had landed on a potion which shattered under him and was now covered with some kind of blue, sticky liquid across his back. Max came down to hover just above him to make sure he was okay. Benny stood up awkwardly, looking around at the room from a new perspective.

The people on the ground were definitely dead. They looked pasty and slightly dessicated as if the fluids had been pulled out of them. Looking across at the man at the front door, the scene was now obvious: a group of survivors had taken refuge here and locked and barricaded the door...but something happened and one of them had fled to the door and tried to push the table away from the door to escape back outside.

Outside with the zombies.

What was so terrifying that someone would rather be outside with the zombies? The mist itself had a faint red tint to it.

There were many potions but none were accessible without jumping to the next table.

Benny was considering how he might get to the next table, when he looked around and then noticed a strange thing: the mist by the dead person at the front door had dispersed. Much of it had coalesced closer to Benny, around the table where he was standing. In fact, it seemed to be getting deeper and deeper, flowing over the table now, touching is boots and shins.

I'm not sure who is down there. I assumed Max joined you. If so, I'll let you decide who gets to make a Constitution DC: 13 saving throw. If not, Benny gets to make the save.

The ladder, going back up to the balcony is behind the main counter and is 5 feet from the table where Benny is standing. It would require him to stand on the floor.

Cures and curiosities
As Benny stood covered in a strange liquid, it became clear that he needed to get away from the mist as quickly as possible. He didn’t trust the ground, so he said to his companions “quick, give me some rope and lift me up!”

Max, brave as always, landed on the table and put himself between the rising fog and Benny.

OOC: Max con check: 13, success (phew!)
Should have taken mage hand as a cantrip!!!

Anson remains on high, looking down on the scene in the potion ship and not understanding what he says. The bodies seem not to be moving, and so he speaks in a normal voice for others to hear.

"There is something in that mist... It doesn't feel safe. Be careful! Is it a toxic gas that has settled on the room perhaps as different potions mingled with each other? I know nothing of these magics, except that that one..." he points to a rack by the main entrance "...seems to hold healing potions. We want those, the group will. But that mist seems dangerous, almost alive...." His voice trails off.

Anson snaps his fingers, and he Produces a Flame in his hand, illuminating the room more fully.
