HOLY HAMMER
Caer sees that the others do not seem to have noticed the small child, nor heard his request for assistance. The clanging of their metal plugs their ears and their minds. He knew that his visage was not one to naturally inspire trust.
He takes a moment to stake stock of the situation as the child retreats, looking around at the baubles briefly to see if there is anything out of the ordinary. He is especially keen to see if any of them might be purely from the wilds, and extends his senses to determine if any might be shadow or fey touched.
Then Caer re-centers his attention on the child. He knows that he doesn't have tongue to convince the child to overcome her fear, but he realizes that might be able to appeal to her desire to survive. And that was something Caer understood far too well. Because the child was part of nature, and all nature wants to fight to survive.
Listen, child. I understand your fear. But if you stay here, you will die afraid. Come now and live. You are afraid of those monsters, but I am the monster to them. Walk with me and survive, as I will strike them down.
OOC:
...um, a little confused that no one is helping with the child. Caer is like a charisma sink. Let's see how this goes!
And I'm going to use survival on my roll to get the kid out. If not, subtract 5 from the roll since Caer has no charisma modifiers. Survival: 1D20+5 = [7]+5 = 12
Stratus had hoped that Caer would take care of the child, as he was uncomfortable with children - they were so very small. But he sighed, realizing that he should have known better, as Caer had no softness whatsoever. Stratus could tell that all his talk of 'monsters' was only going to scare the tiny thing more than reassure her. He bent low to look under the table and smiled, saying, "We will not harm you, little one. Come here and you can climb on my shoulder, where no one can reach you."
Honestly, this is the part of the adventure that I thought things would spiral but you've been very lucky.
So, this was TWO rounds worth of checks. (two minutes)
Round 1:
Caer failed to calm the child,
zombies failed their perception,
Stratus made a perception and prayer.
Havoc didn't act
Round 2:
Stratus calmed the kid
Caer made an insight. You each only get one check per round. I took insight (because I think it would be cooler). Your other checks were successful. If you want to stay longer and see what else there is, I'll tell you what else you see. You can choose either your perception or Nature
Havoc didn't act
Cyrick's Silver Pendants
The initial advice offered by Caer did nothing more than make the girl panic slightly and start crying.
Stratus, not wanting to frighten the girl, prayed to Stronmaus and looked over the various bits of jewelry and trinkets. One of the locked drawers had a ring in it and it was the only ring that he could see.
The girls sobs attracted the attention of a zombie who approached the stall, with molevolence it tried to scramble over the display to try to find what was making the noise. As it reached over the shelf it knocked one of the glass drawers over, smashing right next to Stratus but as the zombie tried to crawl over, part of the display collapsed under its weight and sent many of the unlocked necklaces and pendants falling into the street along with the zombie. The zombie groaned and growled in frustration trying to get free of the collapsed display which had landed on top of it.
The girl, seeming to finally realize that the creature on the other side of the stall was the enemy and not the people trying to extricate her from her hiding spot.
Instead of a sob, she sucked in her gut doing her best to control her crying.
Stratus breathed a sigh of relief as they all crouched there, quietly waiting for the zombie to leave and, as he looked down at the ground, he spied the broken drawer that had been knocked over by the zombie. An intricately carved, silver holy symbol had been dislodged from the box. It was of a higher quality than most of the other jewelry and, by chance, a symbol of Correllon Lathander.1
Caer, seeing the girl had finally calmed down, had a chance to look at the some of the jewelry. There were two things that caught his eye: one was purple crystal that, when he looked at it, had swirling smoke within.
Then you hear squeeking...is that rats? It seems far off, but it's coming closer...
1. You've pent inspiration. It brought you a zombie - who knocked over a locked drawer and broke it open to reveal a valuable holy symbol for Deidre. But now there's a zombie just outside the stall.
-You perception also alerted you to a singular ring in another of the 6 (now 5) locked boxes.
2. Caer, your insight and Nature and Perception are successful but, as stated above, You each only get one check per round.
---- Round 3
What do you want to do?
The kid is calm and quiet, but she won't come with you. Another DC 12 check will get her to come with you quietly. You can leave any time but if you want to leave now, you will have to take her with force or leave her.
Stratus, unable to get the girl to come out, but satisfied for now that she was quiet, picked up the Pendent of Correllon, and turned his attention toward the ring, and getting it out of its case.
OOC:
I'm not sure what the best method to get it out is.
Havoc quickly looks around, trying to see if any drawer has some extra security and takes the whole thing. If there is alarm, he can smash the thing when noise is no longer as issue.
He somewhat harshly says to the girl in a whisper as he goes by "If you won't come with us, find "The Pudgy Pig" inn. We aren't the greatest guys ever, but we are living, these guys aren't. We cannot wait for you. Come, climb and hold to the yucky armor."
So...Perception 10 to spot extra security
Cha check 15 to get the girl to come with them
Stealth 7 to move away
Havoc is for going south and then into the street toward the gate - to at least point the child in the right direction. Then we wait for the rest of the group. Not sure if there is a second drawer, he does not waste time to check the actual content, just that it is protected for some reason

HOLY HAMMER
Caer sees that Havoc has approached the girl, attempting to coax her out. Inwardly, Caer has already withdrawn from the matter; nature will take its course. If anything, Caer felt that the Raven had reminded him that those who depended on walls and metal for their protection could not be trusted to save themselves, for they were lost to the ways of the deep.
Still, the time wasn't for naught. His senses were attuned to the shadow and the fey, and a purple cyst filled with shadows seemed to be calling out to him, standing out in sharp relief to the other bric-a-brac in the stall. Caer grabbed it, quickly scanned for any other objects that he might know as a Forestal, and prepared to leave with all haste.
That scurrying sound portends woe, and I do not wish to learn of its source.
OOC:
Object interaction- grab purple cyst from prior insight roll.
Use nature roll (above, 20) to see if there is anything else.
Get ready to git on out.
Havoc delivers a severe warning to the impertinent child. She was barely allowed to walk down the street alone without her mother much less being left to wander the streets alone among the murderous dead. She doesn’t even know where the Pudgy Pig would be.
With the reprimand from the dwarf, she takes Stratus’ offer to ride on his back instead of the dwarf, not wanting to come near the bloody breast plate.
“My mommy ate someone” she says to Stratus in a heavy tone, as if saying it out loud might make sense to her.
Stratus meanwhile has finished tucking the drawer with the ring in his bag.
Caer takes one last look at the various jewelry and notices a finely carved wooden medallion on a leather rope. It has a silver clasp and silver adornments. It was hanging on the back wall.
The sound rats comes closer and you look to see a horde of vermin running from sewers and basements, across the market, panicked by something, biting and scratching anything that moves in its wake, living or dead.
OOC:
charisma check is success. You have the kid. She’s riding piggyback with Stratus.
Caer has two items
Stratus has the drawer.
If you stay another round, make a dex save dc 14 vs the rat swarm.
If you leave, where are you going?
Do you want to leave stealthily or just book it to the temple? Do you want to go to the potion shop?
Deirdre did not like the look of the mist - at all. She did not know if it could be harmed, but there was only one way to find out. She hoped at the very least her attack would distract it from Benny.
Seeing the mist begin to engulf Benny, Anson, standing above the room, reacts, casting the flame in his hand into the heart of the mist. He has no idea if it wil do anything, but it might draw attention away from Benny if nothing else.
