The festivities eventually wound down, and the Sticks were permitted to bed down on the beach of the underground river, by the entrance to the Throne Room. It was damp, but so was everywhere in Chult, and the running water cooled the air in the cavern to a temperature that almost felt reasonable. The Sticks slept as comfortably as they could remember. [ooc]If it isn't obvious at this point, the Sticks get a much needed Long Rest.[/ooc] In the morning (it was difficult to tell exactly what time of day it was, but likely later than they normally rose) they packed their things and returned to the surface. (Evidently the hydra had been satisfied by its meal, as this day there was no sign of it.) The air above hit them with a wall of heat, and it was raining and windy. They took stock of their puzzle cubes, which Orvex (the guide and translator that had worked for the Thayans) explained were somehow involved in unlocking the gates to the Tomb of the Nine Gods. Between the ones that the Sticks had collected, and the ones that the Yuan-Ti had taken from the Thayans, they held eight of nine. One was still in the possession of the Red Wizard who had escaped the slaughter. "We could see if she has returned to the Walled Compound. If not, I can leave a message for her there," suggested Orvex, " Alternately, as their goal was to enter the Tomb, we can head there and see if she will chose to find us." [ooc]The Walled Compound was where the Thayans made their camp.[/ooc]
