Round Five Devan strikes his foe down with a swift blow, and Lathander's light washes over him, dulling the pain of his injuries. Bob smashes the serpent with his hammer hard enough that the beast is dazed; it's head hangs motionless. Bob does not waste the opportunity; he severs the beast's head with his axe. Having vanquished his foe, Bob hoots with laughter and leaps through the flames. He hooks his hammer on his belt, crashes through the spears at the bottom of the pit, leaps as high as he can, buries his axe in the wall of the pit, and begins to climb out of it. While on fire, laughing. Pyrus burns a Trog who he had burnt before, one who had thrown many javelins at him. It begins to run even before the others, who throw one last volley of javelins before running from the burning barbarian climbing out of the pit. Sesto summons a spirit mace and climbs to a point where he can see to have it attack. He has much difficulty climbing with his shield strapped on, and is stuck at some point part-way up. A javelin is thrown at him, impossible to dodge or block. [GM]You have them on the run, and good thing too, because this last desperate volley was pretty accurate. You might want to let them go. Bob is only about halfway up. I'm not sure how far up Sesto is, but he's not out. Both need to roll athletics again to get out. It's not easy (both have something in their off-hand, the wall is crumbly) so the dc is 13 and Sesto has disadvantage. If you roll under an 8, you fall back in taking [roll0] from the spears, and [roll1] from the fall (you are over 10 feet and under 20 feet up, by the time you fall) I don't know if Pyrus has a sneaky way to avoid being KO'd, but I suspect he does.
