Ice Beetles

I'm working on converting the adventure that came in the Dragonlance Fifth Age boxed set to D&D 3.5 and it has an encounter with these beetles that spit liquid that freezes their prey to a spot. I assume these to be giant beetles (since they have a Physique of 15 which equates to an AD&D2 hit dice of 5). Did these creatures actually exist in 2nd edition AD&D/ Are there conversions available? Would anyone be willing to help me out in making these creatures?
