I'd like to start a blog

If you are only going to post occasionally, Blogger is (IMHO) the best choice. It's not without problems (like how I seemingly have to log into google every time I post), but for the most part it's pretty nice, and best of all, it's free.

I've been using Wordpress to power ZombieNirvana.com for awhile now, and the Akismet plugin has wiped out over 99% of the spam before it ever gets in, and the rest gets flagged for moderation. I've never had a single piece of spam actually appear on the site since I started using it.

I've been happy with my LJ. It does what I need it to do, and with good tagging, I can usually find the articles I want. I don't know how much tagging blogger does, but I do know that it doesn't do cuts terribly well, I like cuts for when I'm writing something long and want people to be able to bail out at will. :)

If you have more time, you might consider using a wiki. You can make a wiki that functions as your personal website and also includes a functional blog (functional in that you make a new page, using the date as part of the title, and then when you search by tag, you've got them sorted in date-order just by dint of your title). It's not perfect, as it's not what wikis are designed to do, but I've seen it done well.

Good luck!
