If your dwarves come froma cold area the might ride somrhing like a Musk Ox, there are tough creatusres standing between 4 and 5 reet tall at the sholder.

In my homebrew world of Eska, the dwarves have been driven from their halls and wander the surface. There they have domesticated herds of axebeaks that they use as mounts.
