I thought a little of the different types of focuses for casters, including ones that casters don't currently get in the rules like Ritual Dagger/Athame and thought what if there's something special spellcasters could get if they decided to really focus on a type of focus. I feel it would be an optional thing, and it has to be designed in a way that makes it so that they don't get significantly stronger in spellcasting which is why I think they should only really affect cantrips. 4e Wizard sort of had something like that as a class feature, but I think that specializing in a type of focus should be a 4th+ level feat that might function like Weapon Mastery except for cantrips.
As level 4+ feats, it would of course be the +1 in an ability score.
Should these feats add casting ability mod damage to cantrips, if they don't already have something that adds such damage?
But I feel they should do some interesting tactical choices just like Weapon Masteries do, like moving the target 5 feet in any direction or deducting damage from the targets next attack within the next round type of things.
Also I'd allow these feats to make the focus available to the character even if their class doesn't use the focus their spellcaster, so for example a Cleric picking Wand Expert could use wands as a divine focus.
